Family Service

The Family Service coordinates and links the wide range of services offered to students, employees and their relatives at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) and the University Hospital Erlangen (UKER).

We offer students and staff comprehensive advice on balancing studying, work and family commitments or caring for relatives. Topics covered include statutory and internal university provisions concerning maternity leave, parental leave, parental allowances, childcare, re-entry, fixed-term employment contracts, caregiver leave and the like.

In addition, the Family Service cooperates intensively with various internal and external institutions and is involved in a number of internal committees and working groups in the University.

The Family Service has been part of the new Referat P7 “HR Development and Family Service” in the University Administration since March 2020.
