audit “familiengerechte hochschule”
Audit and re-audit „familiengerechte hochschule“
From 2008 to 2017, FAU made use of the process for receiving the “audit familiengerechte hochschule” and certification as a family-friendly university as a strategic instrument to create and develop a family-oriented and family-friendly atmosphere at the university. Within the context of the certification process that is repeated every three years and the target agreements concluded as a result, a number of family-friendly measures have been initiated, implemented and integrated in the long term into FAU, for example the huge increase in the number of childcare options, guidelines for remote working, part-time degree programs or the comprehensive range of advice and information services. The Family Service has been institutionalized as a point of contact for all questions concerning the topic of balancing the needs and requirements of managers and staff, and to act as an initiator of ongoing improvements in this area and a advocate for the topic at all levels and in many of the University committees.
After having successfully completed three phases of the audit, FAU faces the task of continuing to improve the status quo now and in the future by sharing experiences both internally and externally. This is essentially based on two strategic instruments: the “Code of conduct – family-friendly FAU” passed by the Commission for Equal Opportunities and the charter “Familie in der Hochschule”, which FAU signed in September 2016, as well as becoming a member of the Best Practice Club with the same name.
