The first point of contact in case of pregnancy is the Family Service. The Family Service provides confidential and comprehensive advice on the compatibility of pregnancy and studies.
In addition to advice from the Family Service, please always contact Ms. Kramarenkoff at the ZSB: zsb-mutterschutz@fau.de. Under the new Maternity Protection Act, FAU is required to report your pregnancy to the Trade Supervisory Office. You will thus be included in the process procedures for pregnancy, similar to pregnant employees who have an employment relationship with FAU. Ms. Kramarenkoff will advise you on further steps, complete the notification form with you, and advise you based on your current schedule.
If your course of study belongs to the courses of study which, according to the general risk assessment of the university, are associated with probable dangers above the normal risk of life in the case of pregnancy, the Family Service will advise you to seek additional advice from your* academic advisor. This person is familiar with the structure of your course of study and can discuss with you which courses continue to be uncritical and which practical courses (e.g. practical courses in which you handle hazardous substances) must be postponed to a later date.
Please always inquire about upcoming internships and experimental lectures inside and outside the university whether they are safe for you according to the MuSchG!
Of course, you can also contact the FAU Student Advice Center (zentrale Studienberatung – ZSB) for advice regarding your study arrangements.
You can find the subject advising at the individual faculties here.
